Georges Gardet (French, 1863 to 1939)
Georges Gardet was born in Paris and studied under his father, Aime Millet, and Emmanuel Fremiet (at the Ecole des Beaux Arts). His worked focused on animals, but his subjects tended to be wild animals, domestic animals, such as dogs, appear less frequently. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Frances and the 1900 Exposition Universelle. He also executed several large, public works, including lions at the stairway of the Alexandre III Bridge on the Right Bank.
