Karl Edwin Wiwen Nilsson (1894-1974)
Karl Nilsson was the son of the Court Jeweler to the King of Sweden. He won the Gold Medal at the 1925 Paris Exposition des Arts Decoratifs, worked for Georg Jensen from 1925 to 1926, opened his own shop in Stockholm in 1927, and was later appointed the Court Jeweler. Renowned for his austere work with Brazilian-cut rock crystals, aquamarines and citrines set into stepped silver or gold mounts, Nilsson is referred to as the first modernist Swedish jeweler.
