Franklin Benjamin DeHaven (American, New York, 1856 to 1934)

A talented American tonalist, DeHaven was born in Indiana and then moved to New York in 1886 where he studied under George Henry Smillie. DeHaven is known for his handling and appreciation for dramatic skies and nature scenes.

Albertus Eugene Jones (American, 1882 to 1957)

Albertus E. Jones lived in Connecticut and was mostly active in his state of residence. He is a well-known painter of landscapes who studied under Noel Flagg and was also a WPA artist. Thomas Hewes Hinckley (American, 1813 to 1896)

Thomas Hinckley was born in Milton, Massachusetts and though he traveled extensively to the American west and Europe, he returned regularly to his home state. He studied art in Philadelphia, and by 1833 had become a professional portrait painter and sign painter. He set up a studio in Milton in 1845 and often used the surrounding scenery and animals as inspiration for his paintings.
