Gutta Percha Gutta percha is defined as a tough plastic substance made from the latex of several Malaysian trees (generally Payena and Palaquium) of the sapodilla family that resembles rubber but contains more resin, and is used especially as insulation and in dentistry. Louise Guyot (19th century) Louise Guyot was the daughter of the artist Antoine-Patrice Guyot. She made her artistic debut at the French salon of 1841, and was awarded a medal the same year. George Ehrenfried Grosz (American/German Expressionist, 1893 to 1959) George Grosz was born in Berlin, Germany in 1893 as George Ehrenfried Gross. He studied first at the Royal Academy in Munich and then in Florence as one of Frank Duveneck’s “Boys”. Prior to returning to the States in 1885, he also studied briefly in Paris. He lived in Texas in the 1890s, where he studied with Frank Reaugh, a well-known Dallas landscape painter. Jonathan Greenwood Born in Boston in 1727, Jonathan Greenwood worked as an engraver, and was a self-taught portrait painter there during his early career. In 1752, Greenwood departed Boston for Surinam on the northeast shoulder of South America, where he painted portraits for the next five years.
