Roseville Pottery Donatello Pattern
Roseville Pottery was founded in 1892 in Roseville, Ohio and moved to nearby Zanesville, Ohio in 1898. The company’s art director, Harry Rhead, introduced the Donatello line in 1915, adapting its design from a jardiniere he had seen while traveling in Europe.
The Donatello line comprised about 100 different forms and was produced until 1925. It was the first Roseville line to bring the Pottery success on a national level. Many Donatello pieces are unmarked while others are impressed “Donatello” with a “RPCo” mark or are inkstamped “Rv”. Crazing is a common condition problem with this line and will affect a piece’s value.
