Edgar McKillop, Folk Carver

Edgar McKillop (1879 to 1950) of Balfour, in Western North Carolina, is well known for his folk art carvings of men and animals. His “Hippoceros” is in the collection of the Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Folk Art Center, Williamsburg, Virginia, and his “Man Holding an Eagle” is in the collection of the Henry Ford Museum, Dearborn, Michigan. Others of his work are in the collection of the Ackland Museum at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
