Higgins, Charles R. – American Photographer – Hand Colored

Charles R. Higgins

The son of a photographer, Higgins learned his craft as an apprentice to his father’s business in Bath, Maine. Eventually he would take over the business, which, at its peak, employed approximately ten people. Higgins’s hand-colored photos were created in a style similar to those of Wallace Nutting, who was the market leader in tinted photography in the first quarter of the twentieth century. Many Higgins photos are depictions of nature and New England scenery.
