Atwood, Robert – American Artist

Robert Atwood – American Artist 1892 to 1970,

Robert Atwood, a native of New Jersey, often traveled throughout the country to paint the various landscapes, including the scenery of Tennessee, Vermont, Massachusetts, and California. His brushwork progressed from signs of the Impressionist movement from the latter half of the 19th century into a more 20th century modernist technique. Most of Atwood’s works display flattened planes and brighter, slightly unnatural color schemes that reveal Post-Impressionist and Fauvist influences upon his work. He has exhibited at such institutions as the National Academy of Design, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the Northern Arizona Museum of Art.
